FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (Feb. 20, 2025) – With a week to go until the Big Sky Conference Championships, the Northern Arizona men's and women's indoor track and field teams are hosting the final regular season meet of the year this Friday, Feb. 21 at the Skydome in Flagstaff, Ariz., for the NAU Tune-Up meet.

Field events begin at 1 p.m. followed by the running events at 4 p.m.

Northern Arizona is hosting the 2025 Big Sky Conference Championships next week from Feb. 27-March 1 at the J. Lawrence Walkup Skydome in Arizona. More information is available here.

Several Lumberjacks will be utilizing this meet to move up in their respective events for the Big Sky Championships. Northern Arizona will play host to a handful of Division I programs in Arizona, Grand Canyon and Stanford and professional teams and individual and community colleges will also be competing on Friday.

Friday's meet will consist mostly of sprinters, hurdlers, jumpers and throwers for the Lumberjacks after the distance runners hit several qualifying marks last week in Seattle. However, NAU graduate and 2024 Olympian
Nico Young will be rabbeting the invitational section of the men's 3,000-meters for a handful of NAU distance runners.

In the sprints,
Sydnie Watkins will look to improve on her school record time of 8.44 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles. The men also have three of the top-ten marks in the 60-meter hurdles in the Big Sky in
Shon Martin (4
th, 8.09),
Josiah Johnson (5
th, 8.13) and
Tyson Givens (7
th, 8.16).

LiNay Perry and
Kyairra Reigh rank third and seventh in the 200-meters, respectively, and also lead the Lumberjacks in the 400-meters with Reigh ranking second and Perry ranking fifth. Rounding out the sprints,
Shanye Harris owns the fastest time in the Big Sky in the 60-meters in 7.44 seconds.

On the men's side, NAU owns three of the top 10 times in the men's 400-meters with
Luke Yruretagoyena ranking third and
Josiah Johnson ranking fifth. The Lumberjacks are also led by
Shon Martin,
Josiah Johnson and
Tyson Givens in the 60-meter hurdles, with Martin owning the fourth-fastest time in the Big Sky and Johnson owning the fifth.

Over this past weekend, the distance program broke four Big Sky Conference records. The women's distance medley relay team made up of
Agnes McTighe,
Kyairra Reigh,
Alexandra Carlson and
Maggi Congdon ran the third fastest time in NCAA history at the Husky Classic, running 10:39.44.

Congdon also broke the record in the mile, running 4:27.20. Her time ranks first in the Big Sky Conference, and then the Lumberjacks occupy spots two through seven, then ninth and 10
th.
Elise Stearns broke the third record of the weekend, running 8:41.07 at the Husky Classic. Like the mile, the Lumberjacks own the top nine fastest times in the Big Sky.

Colin Sahlman broke the Big Sky record in the 800-meters, running 1:46.40. Sahlman leads the Big Sky in the 800-meters, the 3,000-meters and the mile – also breaking the Big Sky mile record earlier this year. Â

The NAU men have the top four 3,000-meter times in the Big Sky, the top six 5,000-meter times, and the top four mile times. Â

Garret Bernt (1
st, 22.62m) and
Desmond Lott (2
nd, 22.39m) continue to impress in the weight throw with their marks ranking within the top 15 nationally. Lott also ranks second in the conference in the shot put, coming off a personal best the Don Kirby Elite Invitational with a toss of 17.57-meters.

In the jumps,
Sirr Butler is second in the triple jump (14.80-meters),
Ian Lipsey ranks fifth in the long jump (7.08-meters) and
Carter Anderson is ninth in the high jump (1.98-meters).

In the throws, Sariyah Horn-Kemp ranks third in the weight throw (18.67-meters) followed by
Ronan Gallagher in seventh (18.21-meters).
Larissa Francois is the leader in the shot put, ranking eighth.
