POCATELLO, Idaho. (March 9, 2025) – The NAU Men's Tennis team beat the Idaho State Bengals, 6-1 to claim their second Big Sky win.
The Lumberjacks won the doubles point by winning two of the three doubles matches.
Jakub Prachar and
Jakub Volesky got a win at the No. 1 spot in doubles, winning by the scoreline of 6-4. The Bengals tied up doubles at one apiece with
Piotr Galus and
Dani Torres being bested by Quentin Lamothe and Jowan Rawson, 7-5. NAU doubles pair of
Takumi Katsuda and
Semen Agynskyy secured the doubles point, winning their match in a tiebreaker, 7-6(6).
The Lumberjacks built upon their 1-0 lead by winning five of the singles matches to get five more points.
At the No. 1 spot in the lineup was Torres as he won in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4. He is now 7-3 in singles with all of the wins coming at that top spot.
Prachar had also won in straight sets with the second set ending in a tiebreaker, 6-2, 7-6(6). Prahcar builded upon his impressive singles record to move to 8-4.
Agynskyy confirmed the lumberjacks victory over the by after he won, 6-4, 7-(4). The other two lumberjacks to get wins were Volesky who also won in straight sets, and Katsuda who won in a third set 10-point tiebreaker, 6-4, 4-6, 10-4.
The Lumberjacks' record is now 7-6. The next match for the Lumberjacks they will look to move their Big Sky record to 3-0 with hopes of a win over the Weber State Wildcats on March 15.
