AZUSA, Calif. (April 16, 2025) – A quartet of Northern Arizona distance runners kicked off a busy week in California for the track and field team, competing in the invitational section of the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the prestigious Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa, Calif.
Hayley Burns and
Maisie Grice each ran personal bests to launch themselves onto NAU's all-time top ten list, along with
Jeret Gillingham.
Karrie Baloga finished just two seconds off her personal best and school record, crossing the line in 9:44.09 to finish fifth overall.
In her steeplechase debut, Burns clocked the third-fastest time in program history, crossing the line in 10:01.59 to place fourth in her heat. Grice ran a Northern Arizona personal best of 10:02.35 in the event, ranking fourth all-time in program history.
Gillingham ran the second fastest time in program history, finishing eighth in the field with a 27-second personal best of 8:32.00.
The distance runners will be back in action tomorrow for day two of the Bryan Clay Invitational, while the throwers will take the stage at the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate, which is hosted by Long Beach State.
