FARMINGTON, Utah (May 28, 2025) – NAU Athletics has swept the 2025 Big Sky All-Sports Trophy standings, as the conference announced on Wednesday morning. The Jacks bring in the 19th Men's All-Sports Trophy and 10th Women's All-Sports Trophy in program history.
The Men's All-Sports Trophy standings are determined by a formula that takes into account each school's regular-season finish, or conference tournament/championship result for all conference-sponsored sports the institution offers. Basketball, football and tennis awards points based on regular-season finishes, while points for track & field, and cross country are awarded based on conference tournament/championship results. Indoor and outdoor track & field points are averaged to create one score for track & field.
Cross Country kicked things off in the fall, earning an at-large bid to the 2024 cross country national championships, following a third-place finish at Mountain Regionals. The men finished fifth at the national championships. For the fourth-straight season, NAU won the Big Sky cross country title, as David Mullarkey also reigned in an individual championship.
Under first-year head coach Brian Wright, the Lumberjacks reached multiple milestone moments while bringing in eight wins, marking the most in the program since 2018. Six Big Sky Conference victories, a perfect 5-0 record in Flagstaff, and a ranked victory over Sacrament State led the Jacks to their first national ranking since 2017. NAU ended the season ranked No. 22 nationally both in the AFCA Coaches' Poll, and the FCS Stats Perform poll after advancing to the FCS Playoffs.
Men's Basketball posted the best season under head coach Shane Burcar, finishing the slate with an 18-16 record. Northern Arizona received three Big Sky All-Conference honors, including Carson Towt's unanimous all-defensive team selection. In addition, Trent McLaughlin was named to the NABC All-District team, as well as an All-Star selection for the 2025 Reese's Senior Game. The Jacks advanced to the fifth conference tournament victory under Burcar's leadership, and advanced to the postseason for the first time since 2015.
Men's Tennis finished the season with a 17-9 record, holding an undefeated 8-0 Big Sky Conference record and an undefeated 10-0 in Flagstaff to be crowned Big Sky Regular Season Champions. Five Big Sky Player of the Week honors have graced the Jacks this Spring, three going to Dani Torres, Piotr Galus grabbing one, and Takumi Katsuda picking one up as well. The team posted a 91-45 overall singles record, alongside a 42-21 overall doubles record in the regular season. The Jacks brought in five all-conference awards including Dani's unanimous MVP and Coach Bogusz' Coach of the Year Honors.
Men's Indoor Track & Field won the Big Sky title for the 13th-straight season with Drew Bosley bringing in Most Valuable Athlete honors after championing both the 3,000-meters and the 5,000-meters. Colin Sahlman broke Big Sky records in the 800-meters and the mile, and he, Bosley, and Desmond Lott represented Northern Arizona at the Indoor National Championships. Men's Outdoor Track & Field is coming off their fourth Big Sky Championship in five years, totaling 19 All-Conference awards while qualifying 14 athletes to the NCAA West Regionals.

Women's Soccer posted a 4-3-1 Big Sky Conference record in the fall of 2024, making it to their ninth-consecutive Big Sky Tournament matchup. The Lumberjacks very own, Haylee Phoenix, was named the Golden Boot award-winner following a five-goal season while also being named to the Big Sky's all-conference first team. Bringing in three more all-conference honors was Avery Ott, Joey Lujan, and Trinity Corcoran.
Volleyball finished with a 14-14 overall record, following a 7-9 run in Big Sky play. Taylor Jacobsen earned Big Sky All-Conference First Team honors and ranked second in the conference in kills, averaging 3.78 kills per set with 329 kills across 87 sets played.
Millie O'Ketter was named Big Sky Conference Libero of the Year. She led the conference throughout the season in digs, averaging 4.69 digs per set in conference play. O'Ketter was also named to the Big Sky All-Conference Second Team.
Women's cross country punched an automatic bid to the 2024 Cross Country National Championships by finishing second at Mountain Regionals. On the national stage, the Lumberjacks placed fourth behind All-American performances from Ali Upshaw and Elise Stearns. Upshaw and Stearns placed first and second at the Big Sky Cross Country Championships, collecting a Big Sky record with a perfect 15 points for the second-straight season, winning their fourth-straight title. NAU won every regular season meet except for Pre-Nationals where they took second. The Lumberjacks ended the season ranked fourth nationally by the USTFCCCA.
Women's Basketball finished with their best overall record (27-8) and conference record (16-2) in program history, finishing second in the regular season standings and advanced to their fourth-straight Big Sky Semifinal game. NAU broke the Big Sky's single season rebound record behind a single season rebounding record from Sophie Glancey. Northern Arizona made the postseason for the third-straight year, knocking off Arizona twice in 2024-25, including on the road in the first round of the WBIT. NAU collected a program record 11 Big Sky Player of the Week awards and beat New Mexico at The Pit for the first time since 1994. Saniyah Neverson won Big Sky Top Reserve of the Year to highlight four Lumberjacks on five Big Sky teams, including unanimous first team selections, Taylor Feldman and Sophie Glancey. NAU led the Big Sky in scoring for the third-straight season as well.
Women's Tennis finished the season boasting a 15-4 overall record in the Spring 2025 campaign, winning 11-straight matches and remaining an undefeated 8-0 in league meetings to close out the regular season as Big Sky Champions. The Jacks went 10-0 at home this season and lead the Big Sky Conference in singles with an 85-23 overall record accompanied by a 32-18 doubles record to lead the league, earning two player of the week honors in Daryna Shoshyna and Patrycja Niewiadomska. The team earned eight all-conference awards including Daryna's unanimous MVP and Coach Bogusz's Coach of the Year Honors.
Golf finished fourth at the Big Sky Championships, following a season that included four second-place finishes. The Jacks placed second at the Edisto Island Invitational, The Clash at Boulder Creek, The Mountain Classic Matchplay, and The Red Rocks Invitational. Ellena Slater was the individual champion at Red Rocks for the second time in her career, finishing three-under par. She took the title by one stroke, shooting a 69 in the weather-shortened event.
Women's Indoor Track & Field broke eight Big Sky Conference records with Stearns and Maggi Congdon breaking multiple. In Seattle, the women's distance medley relay team ran the third fastest time in NCAA history, setting a conference record. At the indoor championships, LiNay Perry broke the Big Sky record in the 400 and the 4x400-meter relay to earn Most Valuable Athlete and Most Outstanding Performer while Kiki Vaughn took home Freshman of the Year. The Lumberjacks were crowned indoor championships with a conference record 215 points for the second-straight year. At the national championship, Stearns earned two first team All-American honors and Congdon placed third in the mile as NAU took home its best finish since the 2006 season. Women's Outdoor Track & Field brought in their fifth-consecutive Big Sky title this season, totaling 15 All-Conference awards and 17 NCAA West Regional Qualifiers.
In addition, Swimming and Diving added the 12th-straight Western Athletic Conference championship alongside 18 total medals.
