FLAGSTAFF, Arizona. (Sept. 30, 2025) – Northern Arizona's Agnes McTighe and Erik Le Roux are named the Big Sky Conference Women's and Men's Cross Country Athletes of the Week, the league announces today.
McTighe continues her strong season with a determined race at the Gans Creek Classic in Missouri, finishing as NAU's top runner. Her effort helps the Lumberjack women secure a 2nd place team finish while gaining valuable experience on the championship layout.
"I am very proud of how we executed the race," McTighe says. "We went in confident, excited, and with trust in each other and were able to come away with a second-place finish in a highly competitive field. Our younger ladies played an immense role in our team performance, despite it being their first experience at this level. We are in a really great spot right now, this is only the beginning of what we can accomplish together."
On the men's side, Le Roux earns the recognition after a standout performance at the Gans Creek Classic, where he leads the Lumberjack men with a top-10 finish against a competitive national field. The junior shows both strength and poise on the NCAA Championship preview course, pacing NAU through the middle stages and closing well to secure critical points in the team standings.
"Feeling proud of our group," Le Roux says. "I found my teammates out there in the first couple kilometers. Thinking about my boys carried me throughout the entire way."
This marks the first weekly award of the season for both Le Roux and McTighe, highlighting Northern Arizona's continued presence among the conference's best.
The Lumberjacks now turn their attention to the Nuttycombe Invitational in Madison, Wis., set for October 17, one of the nation's most competitive regular-season meets.
