POCATELLO, Idaho (January 10, 2025) – The Northern Arizona women's basketball team was limited to 19 second-half points and fell to Idaho State, 59-46, on Saturday afternoon inside Reed Gym. The loss snaps a three-game road win streak for the Lumberjacks.
NAU (6-11, 2-2 Big Sky) also shot a season-low 28.1% from the floor and struggled to find offense rhythm throughout the match.
Naomi White tallied 11 points and two boards to pace the 'Jacks, while
Madison Watts collected a game-tying-high 10 rebounds.
J'Bionna Robinson also grabbed three steals and two boards while scoring seven off the bench for NAU.
Tasia Jordan and Piper Carlson led ISU (10-5, 3-1 Big Sky) with 18 and 10 points each. Kacey Spink stuffed the stat sheet with eight points, eight boards, five assists, and five steals for the Bengals.
The first half saw neither team gain much of a lead, with no one shooting above 32% in the opening twenty ticks. The Bengals took a 30-27 lead into the break. NAU was able to grab a 33-32 lead after the shooting woes continued into the third at the 5:03 mark of the period, but Idaho State began to heat up and shot 54 and 58% percent in the third and fourth quarters. The Bengals then built a 53-38 lead midway through the final period, and despite NAU shooting 40% in the fourth quarter, seven turnovers kept the ISU lead in double figures to the finish line.
NAU returns to Flagstaff next week to host Sacramento State on Thursday, Jan. 15. Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. MST and will be streamed on ESPN+.
