MOSCOW, Idaho (January 31, 2026) – 10 second-quarter turnovers allowed Idaho to create separation from the Northern Arizona women's basketball team as the Lumberjacks fell 94-71 to the Vandals on Saturday afternoon inside ICCU Arena.
Madison Watts paced NAU (7-16, 3-7 Big Sky) with 20 points and six boards, her third outing this season eclipsing the 20-point mark.
Simone Morris poured in 14 points on an efficient 5-of-7 shooting while committing zero turnovers, and
Kayla Williams scored 12 points for her second straight game in double figures.
NAU was outrebounded 45-33 and struggled to take care of the ball, allowing Idaho to cash in on 14 fast-break points. The Vandals also capitalized on a size advantage, scoring a season-high-tying 58 points in the paint against NAU.
Five players scored in double figures to charge a balanced attack for Idaho (17-5, 8-1 Big Sky), led by Hope Hassman with 20 points, six assists and five rebounds.
The Vandals began the game shooting 58.8% in the first period but were 0-for-6 from beyond the arc, as NAU kept pace with Idaho early. The Jacks committed just one turnover in the opening seven minutes, but gave away possession three times in the final three minutes of the quarter, allowing Idaho to lead 24-16 after one.
Turnover woes continued to plague the Jacks into the second stanza, as Idaho reached a 16-point lead with 2:45 to go before the half. NAU would get as close as 11 early in the third quarter but could not overcome 52.1% shooting from the Vandals in the second half.
The Lumberjacks will look to snap their longest skid of the season since Nov. 28.
NAU returns to Flagstaff next week to welcome Idaho State on Thursday, Feb. 5. Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. MST and will be streamed on ESPN+.
