NAU Falls to Idaho State in First Road Match of Big Sky Play

POCATELLO, Idaho (October 1, 2026) - Northern Arizona women's volleyball dropped their first road match of Big Sky Conference play Thursday, falling to Idaho State, 3-0 (24-26, 18-25, 23-25).

The Lumberjacks fall to 8-7 overall and 1-2 in Big Sky play, while Idaho State improves to 11-4 and 3-0.

Hanah Stoddard led the Lumberjacks with 12 kills, followed by Gigi Greenlee with nine and Quincey Coyle with five. Coyle, Ella Hosfeld and Kate Federico each recorded one service ace, while Greenlee paced NAU at the net with six blocks. Hosfeld led the team with 18 assists, with Taryn Davis adding nine, while Federico anchored the defense with 26 digs.

Northern Arizona jumped out to an early 9-1 lead, highlighted by a service ace from Coyle and several Idaho State attack errors. The Lumberjacks maintained their advantage through the middle of the set, with kills from Stoddard, Greenlee and Coyle helping NAU take a 19-13 lead. Idaho State rallied late to erase the deficit and eventually tied the set at 24-24. The Bengals then scored the final two points to complete the comeback and take the opening set, 26-24.

The Bengals took control early in the second set, building a 7-4 lead before NAU battled back to tie it at 8-8. Idaho State then pulled away, taking a 16-11 advantage and extending its lead to 23-16. NAU cut the deficit to 23-18, but the Bengals scored the final two points to take the set, 25-18, and a 2-0 lead in the match.

NAU battled throughout the third set, trailing 8-5 before rallying to tie the score at 8-8, including an ace from Hosfeld. Idaho State regained control and built a 16-10 lead, but the Lumberjacks responded with a 6-1 run to pull within 17-16. Kate Camp and Coyle each recorded a kill during the rally, while Stoddard added a kill and a block assist alongside Camp. NAU continued to fight late, cutting the deficit to 23-22 and 24-23, but Idaho State finished with the final point to win the set, 25-23, and complete the sweep.

The Lumberjacks will face Weber State on Saturday at 12 p.m. MST. Live streaming will be available via ESPN+ and live stats available on StatBroadcast.
