NAU Soccer Suffers First Blemish in Conference Play at Weber State

OGDEN, Utah (November 1, 2026) – The Northern Arizona soccer team fell 2-0 to Weber State on a rainy Sunday afternoon at Wildcat Soccer Field.

NAU (8-5-5, 4-1-3 Big Sky) sees a 10-match unbeaten streak ended and suffers its first loss in Big Sky matches, while Weber State improves to 10-6-2 and 6-1-1 in league matches.

Lexi Saveski made the start in goal and played all 90 minutes, making five saves. NAU was outshot 17-4 to tie a season-low in shots, and was edged in corner kicks, 4-3.

Weber State got on the board early in the fourth minute, when Lily Blum found herself unmarked in the box for the point-blank shot to give the Wildcats a 1-0 lead. Elliotte Kortus took NAU's first shot on target in the 22nd minute, and Erin Perry almost found her second goal of the week with a ball that was initially fumbled by the Wildcat keeper in the 34th minute as the 'Jacks attempted to equalize.

Into the second period, the hosts maintained the edge. Weber State tested Saveski first in the 53rd minute, and the Lumberjacks responded on the other end with a shot from Ava Hinske inside the box that was blocked and sent out for a corner in the 60th minute.

NAU thought it had found the back of the net from that corner, when a Kaylee Muniz shot snuck by the keeper, but the goal was waved off as Muniz was whistled for a foul.

With the score still 1-0, Weber State notched another goal in the 63rd minute to double its lead. NAU fought to respond but only managed one more shot on target in the 75th minute.  Valerie Llamas took a good look that was initially bobbled again by the keeper and ultimately controlled.

The Lumberjacks will look to rebound in the regular season finale against Northern Colorado in Greeley on Nov. 5. Kickoff with the Bears is set for 1 p.m. MST and will be streamed on ESPN+.
