Lumberjacks Prevail in Overtime over Vikings

PORTLAND, Ore. (February 12, 2026) – The Northern Arizona women's basketball team fended off Portland State for an 88-80 win in overtime on Thursday night inside Viking Pavillion, snapping a four-game skid on the road.

NAU (9-17, 5-8 Big Sky) saw two players score 20-plus points in a game for the second time this season, as Naomi White and Kayla Williams produced 25 and 24 points, respectively, and grabbed eight rebounds each. Madison Watts recorded her third straight double-double and fourth overall on the year by way of 13 points and 10 rebounds, while also dishing a career-high six assists in the win. J'Bionna Robinson contributed seven points, two rebounds, and five dimes to tie her career-high in assists in 37 minutes off the bench.

Hannah Chicken paced PSU (6-18, 2-10 Big Sky) with a double-double of 16 points and 11 rebounds, while Cici Ellington recorded 20 points and nine boards. NAU dished 22 assists on 30 made shots, as it outshot PSU for the game, 42.9% to 39.4%. The Jacks also held the Vikings to 22.2% (4-of-18) from beyond the arc.

Following up the last game with its most lead changes of the year, NAU exchanged leads 17 times in the contest and faced eight ties, with its biggest lead of the game coming in overtime with 32 seconds to play. The 'Jacks never faced a deficit greater than five points and overcame a four-point Vikings lead early in the final quarter, but then relinquished a four-point lead in the last 26 ticks as PSU made half of its triples for the contest in the final seconds to force extra time.

NAU forced the Vikings to miss their first six shots of the OT period, and ultimately outrebounded PSU 9-2 in overtime. The Jacks built an 83-78 lead off a Williams jumper with 1:24 to play, and one more stop and rebound from Watts allowed NAU to sink the Vikings for good.

The Lumberjacks played their first overtime game of the season, with the last OT contest resulting in an 85-83 win over James Madison on Nov. 28, 2024.  NAU also improves its record to 3-2 when both teams secure a scoring run of 10 or greater.

NAU will remain on the road and head into California for a meeting with Sacramento State on Saturday, Feb. 14. Tipoff with the Hornets is scheduled for 3 p.m. MST and will be streamed on ESPN+.
