Lumberjacks Downed by Hot-Shooting Eagles

CHENEY, Wash. (February 28, 2026) – The Northern Arizona women's basketball team could not cool off a hot-shooting Eastern Washington team as it fell 81-61 to the Eagles on Saturday afternoon on Reese Court.

Kayla Williams recorded her first double-double of the season to pace NAU (10-20, 6-11 Big Sky), tallying 24 points on 9-of-12 from the floor to go along with 10 rebounds. Naomi White recorded 14 points, six rebounds, and two steals while J'Bionna Robinson stuffed the stat sheet with 11 points, four rebounds, four steals and four assists.

Eastern Washington (14-16, 7-10 Big Sky) shot a season-high 52% (14-of-27) from beyond the arc, and outrebounded NAU 44-39 for 14 second-chance points. The Jacks held a 30-24 advantage in points in the paint, as well as a 10-5 lead in fast break points.

A clean first quarter with only one turnover from either side resulted in a slim 20-19 lead for the Eagles after the opening period. While NAU outscored EWU 14-8 in the paint through the first 20 minutes, the Eagles used a 9-0 run to build a ten-point lead at the 3:07 mark of the second quarter, shooting 55% (5-of-9) from beyond the arc in the period.

The Jacks were able to cut it back to a four-point game off a Robinson jumper with just under two minutes to go before halftime, but another scoring spurt from the Eagles gave them 41-32 lead at the break.

The Lumberjacks made just two triples for the game in a season-low 10.5% from beyond the arc, including 0-4 in the third quarter. On the flipside, EWU went 4-5 from three in the third frame to extend its lead to 17 heading to the final quarter, 67-50.

NAU attempted to rally but went cold in the fourth period as it shot 6.3% (1-of-16) and saw the deficit grow to as many as 21 as the Eagles ran away with the contest.

With her four steals, Robinson recorded her eight game this season with three or more takeaways, while Williams shoots over 50% for the ninth time this season. The senior also owns the best free throw percentage in the Big Sky in league games of 87.5%.

The Lumberjacks will play their regular season finale in Bozeman against Montana State. Tipoff with the Bobcats is scheduled is 7 p.m. MST and will be streamed on ESPN+.
