FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (March 26, 2026) – Behind
Patrycja Niewiadomska's comeback win on court one, the Northern Arizona women's tennis team took a 4-3 win over Idaho State on Thursday afternoon at the NAU Outdoor Tennis Courts.
The Lumberjacks (4-5, 3-1 Big Sky) string together victories for the first time this season, and snap Idaho State's (8-5, 2-1 Big Sky) eight-match win streak. With less than a month to go until the Big Sky Championships, NAU sits third in the league standings behind Sacramento State and Idaho.
Niewiadomska and
Andrea Noguera both snapped their respective opponent's win streak of eight straight in singles, extending their own win streaks to three and two.
Doubles competition came down to the wire, with the pairs of
Leontina Stojanovic and
Mia Wolter and Niewiadomska and Noguera taking wins on courts three and two to give NAU the early 1-0 lead.
Singles play continued in competitive fashion, as the Bengals evened the score at one apiece with a win on court six.
Natalie Rainke then wrapped up a win on court three in straight sets, winning the tiebreaker in her second set to keep NAU ahead 2-1. Noguera then grabbed her win on court two to put the Jacks on the verge of a clinch.
Following another ISU win on court four, Niewiadomska rallied in a three-set affair, bouncing back after dropping her second set 6-1 to take the third set 6-4 and clinch the match for the Jacks.
With the victory, NAU has won nine of its last 10 meetings with Idaho State.
