VAIL, Colo. (September 21, 2026) - The Northern Arizona women's golf team completed the first round of the Golfweek Red Sky Classic on Monday, shooting 3-over 291 as a team to finish the day tied for 11th.
Southern California is the clubhouse leader at 22-under 266. At 22-under 266, USC set a new single-round scoring record at the tournament, as well as a team scoring record for a single round. The Trojans hold an 11-shot advantage over the Miami Hurricanes, who sit at 11-under 277. On the individual front, USC's Jasmine Koo and Kaili Xiao are tied at the top after rounds of 7-under 65.
Freshman Kristyna Malinova opened the tournament with an even-par round of 72, recording four birdies on the day. Starting on hole one, she secured birdies on holes two and six, with a dropped shot on the eighth. On the back nine, Malinova bogeyed hole 11 before rebounding with a birdie on 12. Another dropped shot came on hole 14, which was again immediately followed by a birdie on 15. A final dropped shot on the 18th brought her total to even par. She stands tied for 33rd heading into the second round.
Ella Zanatta is also tied for 33rd with her round of even par. The junior began the round with eight straight pars before dropping a shot on hole nine. A bogey on hole 11 put her at 2-over. She picked up her first birdie of the day on the par-5 15th and finished the day with another birdie on the par-5 18th to bring her total back to even.
Frankie Dezis follows just one shot behind at 1-over par. She started strong with a birdie on the first hole, followed by another on the third. Her momentum stalled during the middle portion of the round, as she was 3-over through 16 holes. Dezis finished the round just as she had started, with two solid birdies to cap off the round. She currently stands tied for 50th with her round of 73.
Just one shot back from Dezis is Gracie Heinle. The senior posted a round of 2-over with 12 pars on the day and two birdies, on holes nine and 17. She is taking advantage of the par-3s, currently playing them at 2-under par. Heinle's round of 74 puts her tied for 58th on the leaderboard.
Rounding out the lineup, Martyna Muchajer is tied for 106th with a 10-over round of 82. The freshman had a single birdie on the first hole.
Northern Arizona will begin round two at 9:00 a.m. MST on hole one, playing alongside LSU, Kansas and individuals.
