FARMINGTON, Utah (September 8, 2026) – Northern Arizona soccer players
Micala Boex and
Lexi Saveski have swept the Big Sky's Player of the Week honors, the league announced Tuesday morning.
The nods mark the first of the season for NAU and the first weekly laurel for Saveski, who earns Defensive Player of the Week. Boex collects the third Offensive Player of the Week award of her career, having captured it twice last season.
The 'Jacks compiled a 1-1 record last week, taking a 3-0 win at Nevada last Thursday and falling just short at Saint Mary's on Sunday to a score of 1-0. The match against the Wolfpack marked NAU's third outing blanking an opponent in five contests this year, and the fourth shutout of Saveki's career. The redshirt junior ranks third in GAA (.55) in the league, while sitting second in save percentage (.875). The Lumberjacks as a team are third in GAA (.67).
Boex, the Big Sky's Preseason Most Valuable Player, leads the 'Jacks offensively with three goals on the year. The forward owns 12 multi-point games for her career, and against Nevada, she collected the first multi-goal game of her career with a brace while putting all five of her shots on goal in the contest. She leads the conference in shots per game (four) and shots on goal per game (2.17), while ranking fifth in goals (three).
The brace also brought Boex' total career goals to 14, moving her into a tie with Maddie Shafer for 10th all-time in program history.
The Lumberjacks play two matches this week, starting with a trip to Tucson to face in-state foe Arizona on Thursday, Sept. 10 at 7 p.m. MST before welcoming Grambling State to Flagstaff on Sunday, Sept. 13 at 12 p.m. MST. Both contests will be streamed on ESPN+.
