2021-22 (Sophomore): Named the Big Sky Conference MVP for the second straight season, the first two-time conference MVP in Northern Arizona history... In addition to being named the unanimous MVP, also named unanimous All-Big Sky First Team in singles as well as All-Big Sky First Team with Ava Neyestani... Named Big Sky Women’s Tennis Player of the Week on March 22... Finished 16-2 overall in singles, wrapping up the season with a 15-match win streak... Finished 8-0 against the Big Sky in the regular season, while also beating Idaho State’s Hana Cho 6-2, 6-2 at No. 1 in the Big Sky Conference semifinals to clinch the team victory and Weber State’s Megan Davies 6-2, 6-0 at No. 1 in the Big Sky championship match... Dropped just eight singles sets during the spring season, with a 6-4 victory over No. 63 Haley Giavara in the NCAA Tournament First Round match against No. 11 California before her match was left unfinished... During the fall, earned a 6-3, 6-2 victory over then No. 14-ranked Vanessa Wong of Washington at the ITA Women’s All-American Championships... Finished the season 12-1 in doubles with Neyestani, setting a program record for win percentage by a doubles pairing... Won 12 straight matches with Neyestani, including a 7-0 record in the Big Sky’s regular season, before falling at the No. 90-ranked pairing of Jessica Alsola and Katja Wiersholm from No. 11 California in the NCAA Tournament... Went 5-1 at No. 2 and 7-0 at No. 3 after beginning to pair together on March 13 against New Mexico State... Finished with a 13-5 doubles record overall, beating Wyoming’s Ida Krause and Maria Oreshkina 6-3 at No. 1 with Annabel Davis... Clinched 7 doubles points, including a 7-6 (7-4) victory against Idaho State’s Leah Kuruvilla and Sol O’Lideadha in the Big Sky Conference semifinals... Also beat Weber State’s Megan Davies and Sicely Ferreira 6-3 in the Big Sky Conference championship match.
2020-21 (Freshman): Produced one the best freshman seasons in NAU’s program history... Named the Big Sky Conference MVP and Freshman of the Year, the first player to be named to both in the same season and just the second to earn both awards during her career (along with former Lumberjack Chiara Tomasetti)... Also named All-Big Sky First Team in singles and All-Big Sky Honorable Mention in doubles with Elinor Beazley... Finished the season 15-1 overall, 14-1 at No. 1... Held a perfect 3-0 record against the Big Sky in the regular season, losing just seven games in the six sets... Already ranks inside the program’s Top 10 for wins at No. 1... Dropped just two standard sets all season, one to Arizona State’s Ilze Hattingh and the other to Wyoming’s Maria Oreshkina... Only loss came to Hattingh, who was ranked No. 37 at the time... With the team match decided, the third set was a 10-point tiebreaker with Hattingh winning 10-8... Three matches went unfinished with Dittmann holding a first-set victory in each, including her NCAA Tournament match against No. 77 Ashley Lahey of No. 5 Pepperdine... Dittmann took her first set at the NCAA Tournament 6-2 off of Lahey, the former No. 1-ranked player in the country for her 23rd straight set victory... Also defeated Pacific’s Klara Kosan, ranked No. 70, 7-5, 6-2 in Stockton, Calif... Cruised to a 6-3, 6-3 victory against Portland State and a 6-2, 7-5 victory against Weber State in the Big Sky Conference Tournament... Clinched victories against New Mexico State and Weber State... Also finished the season 10-8 in doubles with Beazley, primarily playing at No. 2... Held an 8-8 record on Court 2 and a 2-0 record on Court 3... Went 2-1 against the Big Sky in doubles... Clinched the doubles point against New Mexico State and Weber State.
High School: Attended Helmholtz Gymnasium in Essen, Germany prior to joining the Lumberjacks... Won five tournaments in Germany during 2019... Played in the women’s and junior German championships... Played at No. 1 on her club team Netzballverein while the team moved to the highest league during the winter season... Played No. 3 and 4 for ETUF in RegionalLiga-West, the third-highest league during the summer... Ranked seventh in her age group, 17th among women under 18 and 102nd among all women in Germany
Personal: Gina Marie Dittmann was born Sept. 10, 2002... Daughter of Dorit and Ralph Dittmann... Has one younger brother, Luca... Also played soccer for SC Werden Heidhausen, winning multiple championships while leading the team in goals scored at 31 in 2016... Hobbies include playing soccer, riding horses and skiing with her family... Most exciting event has been getting to watch the French Open every year... Chose NAU for its coaches, facilities and the team
