Bailey McElwain

Northern Arizona Football announced February 9th the addition of Tight Ends Coach, Bailey McElwain to the staff for the 2023 season.

McElwain is a University of Alabama at Birmingham graduate, finishing his Bachelor’s in 2019 after a collegiate playing career at Vanderbilt University in Tennessee. McElwain was a fullback for the Commodores in 2016 and 2017 before suffering a career-ending injury.

Staying in Nashville, McElwain joined the Vanderbilt staff as a student assistant coach before heading to Hewitt-Trussville high school and East Central Community College to coach running backs.

McElwain made his way back to the Division I level, joining Jacksonville State in 2020 as a Nickels Analyst. Spending the last three season as a Graduate Assistant coach, McElwain spent a season at UNLV coaching tight ends and wide receivers, as well as a season at Northwestern University as an assistant offensive line coach.

McElwain will be joining NAU’s staff as a most recent assistant special teams coordinator at UCLA where he coached three players to national and Pac-12 conference award recognitions.
