• Cody VonAppen enters his second season as the safeties coach for the Northern Arizona football program and fourth season overall.
• In his first year as the safeties coach, the secondary had 42 pass breakups and eight interceptions.
• As a graduate assistant, VonAppen worked primarily with the defensive coaching staff, assisting with the scouting and breakdown of opponents, as well as developing daily practice schedules.
• Prior to becoming the safeties coach, VonAppen spent the 2015 season as the graduate assistant on defense and the 2014 season as a quality control assistant with the Lumberjacks where he assisted with the development of the defensive line.
• A Western Oregon graduate, VonAppen earned a degree in exercise science in 2013.
• He is currently working on his master’s in educational leadership.
• VonAppen played football for Montana, Eastern Arizona, and finished his career at Western Oregon.
