Garrett Gibson arrived in Flagstaff during the summer of 2020 and serves as a defensive graduate assistant working with the team’s linebackers.

Prior to joining Northern Arizona University, Gibson spent a season as the defensive coordinator for Union Grove High School after a stint as a defensive graduate assistant for Hardin-Simmons University.

While at Hardin-Simmons, Gibson assisted the program’s defensive coordinator and linebackers coach with opponent breakdowns, gameplans, scouting reports and installs among multiple other duties. Gibson also assisted with the team’s recruiting efforts while running official visits.

Prior to his coaching career, Gibson played at East Texas Baptist University from 2014 to 2018, earning ASC all-conference honorable mention honors at linebacker in 2018 and Academic All-Conference from 2014 to 2018. East Texas Baptist also won the ASC Championship in 2015 during Gibson’s tenure.
