Cody Bashore

Cody Bashore was hired to his role of Assistant Director for Athletic Communications in May 2020.

Bashore is the primary media contact for the football, women’s basketball and women’s tennis programs.

Prior to his start with the NAU Athletics Department, Bashore served as a freelance writer  for the department since June 2018 and provided stories for NAUAthletics.com and gameday programs for football and both basketball teams.

A graduate of Northern Arizona University in 2014, Bashore spent the past six and a half years working for Flagstaff’s daily newspaper, the Arizona Daily Sun. Serving as the paper’s sports editor from 2013 to 2018, Bashore covered many of NAU’s teams, including moments such as the NAU men’s basketball team’s run through the CollegeInsider.com Tournament in 2015, both of NAU football’s most recent FCS playoff appearances in 2013 and 2017 and the NAU men’s cross country repeat national title in 2017.

After moving to the role of associate editor in 2018, Bashore also photographed many games for the Daily Sun, including both of the NAU volleyball victories over SEC opponents, Florida (2018) and LSU (2019).

Bashore, a native of Carpinteria, California, earned his bachelor’s degree in journalism with a minor in electronic film and media from NAU in 2014. As an undergraduate student, Bashore worked for the campus newspaper, The Lumberjack, holding the titles of Assistant Sports Editor, Sports Editor and eventually Editor-in-Chief. Bashore covered nearly every NAU program during his time as a student journalist, first on the women’s basketball and tennis beats before moving to football and men’s basketball.
