Jenny Thigpin

Jenny Thigpin joined the Northern Arizona women's basketball staff in May 2018 following two seasons at Boston University. Thigpin primarily works with the Lumberjack post players.

In her first season at NAU, Thigpin helped Khiarica Rasheed to significant increases across the board statistically. Rasheed averaged 12.8 points and 6.3 rebounds per game and earned NAU's only Big Sky Player of the Week award of the season. With Thigpin working with the team's post players, NAU ranked second in the conference in rebounding (39.7). Rasheed's development continued into her junior season, as the forward earned a spot on the Big Sky's First Team while earning conference player of the week honors twice. Rasheed finished second in the Big Sky in points per game (16.5), second in field goal percentage (48.9%) and sixth in rebounds per game (7.2).

During the 2020-21 season, Rasheed was named the Big Sky Preseason MVP and earned All-Big Sky Third Team honors even after missing some games due to injury. Rasheed moved into fourth on NAU's all-time scoring list and its all-time rebounds list after averaging 13.3 points and 7.0 rebounds across 22 games. To complete her career, Rasheed added an All-Big Sky Honorable Mention selection while becoming the prorgram's all-time leader in rebounding and finishing second all-time in scoring.
 
As an assistant coach at Boston, Thigpin served as the Terriers' offensive coordinator and coached the team's posts. She was instrumental in coaching Nia Irving to the Patriot League 2016-17 All-Rookie Team and All-Patriot League Third Team honors the following season. During the 2017-18 season, Irving led the Patriot League in field goal percentage.

Thigpin also coached Sophie Beaudry to All-Patriot League First Team and Defensive Team honors during her first season with the Terriers. Also while at Boston, Thigpin assisted with the Terriers' marketing, communication and social media efforts and was the camp director for their Elite Skills Camp.
 
Prior to Boston, Thigpin spent three seasons at Dixie State including the last two seasons (2014-16) as the Trailblazers' head coach. In her two years as Dixie State's head coach, Thigpin led the team to a 17-35 overall record and coached an All-PacWest First Team player, a D2CCA All-West Region Second Team player and a CoSIDA First Team Academic All-American.
 
Thigpin has a total of five years coaching in the Division II PacWest Conference, getting her collegiate coaching start at Fresno Pacific where she was the recruiting coordinator and defensive coordinator for two years.
 
Originally from Hanford, Calif., Thigpin's first coaching job was as the head varsity coach of Buchanan High School in Clovis, Calif. In 2009, Thigpin coached the team to a 22-7 record – setting a school record for most wins – while reaching the final four of the Central Section playoffs.
 
Thigpin graduated with a degree in anthropology from Fresno State in 2007, where she played her senior season. Thigpin transferred to Fresno State after playing three seasons at Arizona State from 2002-05. During her sophomore and junior years, she appeared in every game for the Sun Devils and posted a standout performance (18 points in 15 minutes) in Arizona State's upset win over No. 7 Stanford.

She also holds a master's degree in early childhood development in special education credential from Fresno Pacific.
