FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – After their season opener against Arizona State, the Northern Arizona women's tennis team will take on another in-state rival in the Arizona Wildcats. The Lumberjacks will compete in their second match of the season on the road in Tucson.
Last weekend, the Lumberjacks competed well against their Pac-12 opponent, remaining aggressive and maintaining a solid level of play. Despite the result, the 'Jacks have seen improvement since welcoming four to the roster, three of which were able to compete against the Sun Devils. Northern Arizona is 0-1 on the season heading into Tucson.

- Last season the Lumberjacks finished on top as the 2017 Big Sky Regular Season champions after recording an 18-5 overall record and an undefeated 11-0 conference record.
- As of Nov. 15, doubles pair Hanneke Lodewijks and Chiara Tomasetti are nationally ranked No. 53 while duo Brandy Walker and Eirene Granville are ranked No. 56.

The University of Arizona women's tennis team will host a season-opening double header starting with Northern Arizona and followed by Boise State. The 11-woman Wildcat roster is led by Vicky Maes, who is entering her 16th season with the women's tennis program. Last season, Arizona finished 11-13 overall including a 4-0 win over the Lumberjacks.
Coming Up
After opening up the season with two in-state rivals, the Lumberjacks will compete in three straight matches on the road against New Mexico State, Abilene Christian and University of Texas – El Paso Feb. 2, 3 and 4 respectively. Northern Arizona will take on their first two opponents in New Mexico before flying to Texas. All three matches are set for 10 a.m.
