FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (November 14, 2018) – Northern Arizona head women's tennis coach
Ewa Bogusz announced the signing of Mimi Bland on Wednesday, the first day of the National Letter of Intent Signing Period. Bland will join the Lumberjack women's tennis team as a true freshman for the 2019-20 season.
"We are very excited for Mimi to join our Lumberjack family," Bogusz said. "She is not only an amazing player whose playing style will be great for us and the Big Sky Conference, but also a great person who will bring a lot of value to the team culture we started building last year."
Bland, a native of Harpenden, England, has had an impressive year so far compiling a 9-2 singles record and 10-1 doubles record according to the International Tennis Federation. In July, she enjoyed a perfect showing at the Junior International Edinburgh tournament in Edinburgh, Great Britain winning both the singles and doubles championship.
Bland won all five of her singles matches in addition to all four of her doubles matches. Her singles title at the Junior International Edinburg tournament was her first of her career.
Currently attending St. George's School, Bland also competes in lacrosse, discus and rounders in her home country. Her team reached the semifinals at nationals in lacrosse and she has also been a part of county-winning tennis, lacrosse and rounders teams.
