GLENDALE, Ariz. (November 4, 2018) –
The majority of the Northern Arizona women's tennis team wrapped up the Lumberjacks' fall schedule on Saturday at the GCU Invite. The 'Jacks collected six doubles wins and five doubles victories against in-state rival Grand Canyon over the two-day invitational at Paseo Racquet Center.

"We had a slow start but I was happy to see that we were able to elevate our play as the days went by," said head coach Ewa Bogusz. "Overall, we had a great fall season and this team is just tapping into their potential. The work we will have to put in the next two months will be crucial for us so we can be ready to show our Lumberjack spirit come January."

Senior Eirene Granville led the 'Jacks in singles as she posted a perfect 2-0 record to end the fall season strong. Granville defeated Autum Prudhomme, 6-4, 6-3 on the Friday before following it up with a 7-5, 6-3 win over Mathilde Lirzin.

NAU's four remaining players – sophomores Ellie Millard, Madi Moore and Cora-Lynn von Dungern and freshman Adrianna Sosnowska – each split their two singles matches. The Lumberjacks were nearly perfect on Saturday notching four wins in five matches as a team.

NAU and Grand Canyon also battled in doubles with the Lumberjacks coming out ahead in five of eight matches. Millard and Sosnowska were responsible for three of NAU's five victories as the pair went an undefeated 3-0.

The Lumberjack pairings of von Dungern and freshman Emilie Haakansson and Moore and Granville each bounced back from first round losses to finish the invitational on a high note.

The last remaining competition for the 'Jacks this fall will start on Wednesday with junior Chiara Tomasetti competing at the Oracle ITA National Fall Championships in Surprise, Ariz.

The 2019 spring season will commence on Jan. 11 in Dallas, Texas when NAU travels to SMU's Metroplex Mania.
