CHENEY, Wash. — After falling to UNLV Thursday, the Northern Arizona women's tennis team is back in the win column defeating the Eastern Washington Eagles 5-2 Saturday morning.
"The team did a great job handling a well-coached Eastern Washington squad on the road," head coach
Maciej Bogusz said.
The 'Jacks held their own in doubles today with
Hanneke Lodewijks and
Ellie Millard finishing first 6-3 before
Chiara Tomasetti and
Madi Moore clinched the doubles point with 6-4 score.
The 'Jacks were up 1-0 when they continued their momentum winning the next three points in two sets to clinch the win at 4-0 over the Eagles.
Tomasetti, Millard and Lodewijks won on their courts allowing Northern Arizona to solidify its first win in a three-match week with just one match remaining against the Idaho Vandals Sunday, March 18.
"We need to clean up a couple things and be ready for Idaho tomorrow morning," said Bogusz.
Northern Arizona will compete against the three-time reigning Big Sky Conference champions in what can be called a championship rematch tomorrow. Originally scheduled for 10 a.m. this match will now be held at 7 a.m. indoors at the Lewis Clark State College indoor tennis facility.
