Northern Arizona Basketball Inks Transfer Cameron Satterwhite

Satterwhite appeared in 35 games for 2018 NCAA Final Four Qualifier Loyola Chicago

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (May 16, 2018) – The Northern Arizona men's basketball team has signed transfer Cameron Satterwhite, a 6'4" guard who played at Loyola Chicago the last two seasons, NAU head coach Jack Murphy announced on Wednesday.

Satterwhite, a Phoenix native, will redshirt during the 2018-19 season and will be eligible for competition beginning in 2019-20.

"It is exciting to have a person of Cameron's talent and character decide to come home and join us at NAU," Murphy said.  "Obviously he has a great deal of experience having been an integral part of a Final Four team this past season at Loyola Chicago.  We are looking for Cameron to continue to improve his skill level on the court but also utilize his experience in the locker room and his experience, not only next year while he redshirts, but also the following season when he is eligible to compete."

Satterwhite appeared in a total of 65 games during the last two seasons for the Ramblers, including 35 in 2017-18, which saw Loyola Chicago make an improbable run to the national semifinals of the 2018 NCAA Final Four in San Antonio.

He averaged 10.4 minutes over those 35 games during his sophomore season and recorded 1.7 points and 1.6 rebounds, while shooting 33.3 percent from the field and 65.6 percent from the free throw line.  He posted a career-best 12 points in an early-season victory over Eureka College and hit four clutch free throws in the late moments to help seal a win over then No. 5 Florida on Dec. 6.

During his freshman campaign, Satterwhite tallied 3.0 points and 1.3 rebounds over 30 games.  He connected on 40.5 percent of his field goal attempts and shot a 73.3 clip from the charity stripe.

Satterwhite played his high school basketball at Gilbert Christian in Gilbert, Ariz., where he helped lead the Knights the 2014-15 Arizona Division II State Championship as a junior, while averaging 18.1 points, 4.9 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.3 steals.  He also shot a solid 53 percent from the field which included a 39.0-percent mark from three-point range in 2014-15.

He also helped guide Gilbert Christian to the 2012-13 Arizona Division III State Title as a freshman.  Satterwhite was ranked as the No. 46 prospect national at his position coming out of high school and was the second-ranked recruit in his class in the state of Arizona.  He also won the Arizona state slam dunk crown during his junior season before missing his senior campaign due to a torn anterior cruciate ligament.  Current Kansas Jayhawk Mitch Lightfoot was a teammate of Satterwhite's in high school at Gilbert Christian.

He originally committed to the University of Colorado before opting to begin his collegiate career at Loyola Chicago.

Satterwhite joins fellow transfers Jonathan (Bernie) Andre (Wallace State, Ala.), Davon Bolton (Eastern Arizona College) and Ted McCree (Gillette College, Wy.), along with incoming freshmen Keith Haymon (Cypress, Texas) and Cameron Shelton (La Verne, Calif.) in NAU's 2018-19 signing class.
