NASSAU, Bahamas (August 17, 2018) – Five players scored in double-figures to lead the Northern Arizona men's basketball team to a 110-64 victory over Star Sports Basketball for its second straight win in as many days during its Bahamas Foreign Tour on Friday.
Sophomore
Jonathan (Bernie) Andre notched a double-double performance for the second consecutive game with 16 points and 14 rebounds. The North Miami Beach, Fla., native also added three steals and a pair of blocks while shooting 7-of-14 from the field.
The Lumberjacks started and finished the game strong as they ran out to a 21-9 lead in the first quarter before closing out the game with a resounding 33-6 advantage in the fourth quarter. NAU scored 19 unanswered points during a 4:08 stretch in the fourth quarter to erase any doubt about the outcome.
Adding to NAU's offensive attack were junior
Davon Bolton who tabbed 16 points, freshman
Cameron Shelton who tallied 13 points on 6-of-10 shooting along with seven rebounds and senior
Karl Harris who notched 12 in the scoring column.
Junior
Brooks DeBisschop rounded out the double-figure point producers for the 'Jacks as he added 10 points while pulling down eight rebounds.
NAU dominated nearly every statistical category especially in the paint as the Lumberjacks outscored Star Sports 62-26 in the lane and compiled a 27-5 advantage in second-chance points while outrebounding their opponent 68-38.
Defensively, Northern Arizona forced a total of 24 turnovers and turned those miscues into 30 points on the offensive end.
The 'Jacks never trailed in the victory and their 46-point margin of victory marked their largest lead of the contest. NAU has won its first two games in the Bahamas by an average of 34.5 points.
Following a day off on Saturday, the Lumberjacks will close out their three-game swing in the Bahamas on Sunday, August 19 in a 2 p.m. MST tip off against the Providence Storm.
