FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (January 23, 2019) – With their spring season in full swing, the Northern Arizona women's tennis team bolstered their lineup for 2019-20 with the announcement of Elinor Beazley's National Letter of Intent signing on Wednesday.
"I'm so happy that Elinor is joining our family," said head coach
Ewa Bogusz. "Her positive mindset and appreciation she expressed really stood out to me. That's what we believe in here at NAU. Her game will work really well with the way we play at altitude and I can't wait for her to get here and start her college experience with us."
Beazley hails from Swansea, Wales where she has been one of the top Welsh players. A member of the U18 Welsh team since she was 13 years old, Beazley has represented South Wales annually since she was 10 years old.
Last year, she won the consolation event at the British National Junior Championships, the top junior event in Great Britain. In 2017, she was a five-time champion at the Welsh Championships, winning the singles and doubles titles in both the U16 and U18 groups. Beazley also claimed the championship in the women's doubles open group.
The incoming freshman won her first Welsh title as a 15-year old in the open singles division in 2016. That same year, she won the U16 Doubles title.
Beazley current attends the Ralph Allen School. While at Ffynone House School, she guided the team to three Welsh titles and finished in the top 16 in Great Britain.
She joins Mimi Bland (Harpenden, England) as the second player to sign with the Lumberjacks for the upcoming academic year.
