RESULTS
LAS VEGAS, Nev. (October 23, 2019) – The Northern Arizona women's tennis team went a perfect 3-for-3 in the singles main flight and collected five singles wins in all during the first day of the ITA Mountain Regional Championships at the Fertitta Tennis Complex. The Lumberjacks also went 2-1 in the doubles draw during Wednesday's marathon day of competition.
Senior
Chiara Tomasetti, sophomore

Adrianna Sosnowska each won their singles matches in the main flight as part of their undefeated days. The trio each won their respective doubles matches, along with freshman
Mimi Bland, who won her singles match in Flight Two.
Tomasetti began her run towards a second consecutive regional singles championship with a near-perfect showing against Weber State's Megan Lombardi. The top-seeded Lumberjack defeated her fellow Big Sky foe by a 6-0, 6-1 score.
Haakansson defeated Air Force's Sydney Fitch, 6-3, 6-3, while Sosnowska earned a tough straight-set victory, 6-4, 7-5, over Nevada's Elizabeth Mintusova. The sophomore tandem, along with Tomasetti, advances to Thursday's round of 32.
In Flight Two, Bland cruised past Paula Tascon of Southern Utah, 6-1, 6-1. Freshman
Elinor Beazley posted NAU's fifth singles win of the day, and third over yet a conference opponent. Beazley squared off against Northern Colorado's Milena Belianovich and moved on with a 6-4, 6-4 victory.
Junior
Madi Moore and junior
Sydney Roman also competed in Flight Two, but came up short in their pursuit of day one victories. Moore, making her fall singles debut, fell to New Mexico's Myu Kageyama, 6-2, 6-1. Meanwhile, Roman played the only three-set match of the day against Emma Corwin of Colorado State and battled in a 6-1, 5-7, 6-2 decision.
Tomasetti and Haakansson showed why they were the tournament's third-seed with an 8-0 shutout victory over Northern Colorado's Natalie Stanton and Elisabeth Walsh to highlight the Lumberjacks' doubles play in the morning. NAU also scored a doubles victory from Sosnowska and Bland, who defeated Weber State's pairing of Ana Morett Salas and Pei-Hsuan Kuo, 8-2.
Moore and Beazley fell to Air Force's TJ Fumagalli and Meredith Jones – the tournament's second-seed – by an 8-1 score to round out NAU's opening day results.
Two rounds of singles will be played on Thursday, while the second round of doubles as well as consolation doubles will also be contested as play resumes in Las Vegas.
