NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. (November 8, 2019) – The Northern Arizona women's tennis team's fall season came to a close on Friday at the Oracle ITA National Fall Championships with senior
Chiara Tomasetti's 6-3, 6-3 loss to LSU's Taylor Bridges in the consolation bracket.
"As the fall season comes to an end, we have a lot ot be happy about," said head coach
Ewa Bogusz. "Chiara had a great fall season. She performed well at Regionals for the second year back-to-back, which showed her maturity as a player. She reached all of the top college tournaments in the country and competed at the highest level, going toe-to-toe with top 10 players. But what is really important is she showed her teammates that had work on and off the court pays off."
Tomasetti wrapped up the National Fall Championships with a 1-2 record for the second straight year with both of her losses coming to nationally-ranked opponents – No. 6 Michaela Gordon of Stanford and No. 114 Bridges. Tomasetti, ranked No. 71 nationally, concluded the fall season with a 13-5 singles record.

Mimi Bland did not compete on Friday after falling to California's Anna Bright and Haley Giavara in the second round. Before the loss, Sosnowska and Bland did take down Georgia's No. 19 ranked duo of Elena Christofi/Vivian Wolff in the first round.
"It was a great season-ending tournament for Mimi and Ada," Bogusz said. "They are a young team and they really stepped it up. They are just stretching the level they can play at and I'm really proud of how they performed on the big stage."
Sosnowska and Bland finished the fall with an impressive 10-3 record, which led the Lumberjacks.
The 'Jacks will take the rest of the fall semester off before opening up the spring in Hawaii on Jan. 9, 2020.
