FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (February 21, 2019) – Northern Arizona University's
Brooks DeBisschop has been selected as a member of the 2018-19 Google Cloud Academic All-District 8 Men's Basketball Team, which is selected by CoSIDA and announced on Thursday.
The junior forward becomes just the third Lumberjack to be honored with Academic All-District status and the first since 2008. He joins Kelly Golob (2004, 2006) and Josh Wilson (2008), who were previously recognized.
DeBisschop, currently leads the Lumberjacks with a .587 shooting percentage from the field and in blocks with 17. He has started 18 games and averaged 7.3 points and 5.8 rebounds as one of NAU's primary options in the post. For his career, he currently has totaled four double-doubles to go along with 423 points and 430 rebounds.
In the classroom, DeBisschop boasts a 3.96 grade point average while majoring in finance. The junior has only received one grade below an "A" in his academic career. He is a two-time Academic All-Big Sky choice and a back-to-back recipient of NAU's Golden Eagle Scholar Athlete Award.
The 2018-19 Google Cloud Academic All-District® Men's Basketball Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The Google Cloud Academic All-America® program separately recognizes basketball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the Google Cloud Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team (if applicable) Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in mid-March.
The Google Cloud Academic All-District® teams include the student-athletes listed on the following pages and are divided into geographic districts across the United States and Canada.
The Division II and III Google Cloud Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2018-19 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs. The NAIA Google Cloud Academic All-America® program is partially financially supported through the NAIA national office.
