OGDEN, Utah (March 6, 2019) – After another undefeated weekend, junior
Chiara Tomasetti landed her fourth Big Sky Women's Tennis Player of the Week award of the spring on Wednesday. She becomes the sixth player in conference history to garner four Player of the Week honors in a single season and fifth player to earn seven or more career awards.
Tomasetti earned four wins at No. 1 singles and doubles last weekend as the Northern Arizona women's tennis team split their road matches against Northern Colorado and Wyoming. She ran her singles record to a perfect 8-0, while she improved to 7-2 in doubles.
Tomasetti was dominant in notching a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Northern Colorado's Anna Battersby in NAU's conference opening 5-2 victory last Friday. In doubles, Tomasetti and freshman
Adrianna Sosnowska defeated Battersby and Mora, 6-2, as part of the Lumberjacks' 10th straight Big Sky opening win.
The third-year Lumberjack collected NAU's lone point on Sunday versus Wyoming with a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Tessa van Der Ploeg. With Tomasetti's seventh consecutive straight set win she remained unbeaten on the day after teaming with Sosnoskwa for a 6-4 doubls win over van Der Ploeg and Elisa Koonik.
On Tuesday, Tomasetti moved up eight spots in the Oracle/ITA Division I Women's Rankings at No. 108.
