ROUND THREE RESULTS
BOULDER CITY, Nev. (April 21, 2019) - The Northern Arizona women's golf program ended its 2019 spring season on Sunday at the Big Sky Conference Championships at Boulder Creek Golf Club in Boulder City, Nev.
After braving the weather during the second round, Northern Arizona ended the tournament in seventh-place on the team leaderboard off of a seven-over 295 showing in the third round.
Sacramento State would win the conference title as the Hornets would have an eight-under 280 third round (three-over 867 throughout weekend). This is the second time in three years the Hornets have earned the conference crown.Â
Aleksandra Chekalina found herself in a familiar spot coming in first on the player leaderboard for NAU. Chekalina concluded the conference championship in a three-way tie for fifth-place. She was two-over 74 in the third round to end with a two-over 218 overall tournament performance and was only three shots off of Beah Cruz of Northern Colorado and Corinne Viden of Sacramento State at one-under 215.
Chekalina would earn All-Tournament honors to go along with her Third Team All-Conference selection earlier this past week.
Elle Kocourkova's 10-over 226 performance throughout the tournament earned her a three way tie for 21st-place. Kocourkova would drop seven spots from the day before shooting for a four-over 76 third round.
Sara Padilla was not far behind Kocourkova coming in at a three-way tie for 31st-place. Padilla went 14-over 230 during the weekend and had a three-over 75 third round.Â
Emma Reyes moved up six spots on the player leaderboard on Sunday. Reyes was also three-over 75 in the third round to end the tournament in a three-way tie for 37th-place.Â
Ashley Croft was one-uner par 71 in the third round, a huge turnaround after having withdrawn from the second round yesterday due to illness.
COACH'S CORNER
"I am proud of how Aleks played, said head women's golf coach
Brad Bedortha. "She has had a great season culminating in a well deserved All-Tournament team selection. It was great to see how well Ashley played today and the rest of our team did have a good day. However, we can not be satisfied with our seventh-place finish at conference. We have had some adversity and obstacles this semester which will only make us stronger in the future."
