FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (April 29, 2019) –
The Northern Arizona women's tennis team will head west for the start of the 2019 NCAA Tournament with a first round matchup against the No. 7 national seed UCLA on Saturday at 12 p.m. in Los Angeles, Calif.

NAU and UCLA will meet in one of two first round meetings at the Los Angeles Tennis Center and will be joined by San Diego and LSU. The two winners will meet in the second round on Sunday.

The Lumberjacks (15-8) snapped a 20-year NCAA Tournament drought by winning the Big Sky Championship this past Saturday, 4-0, versus Idaho. The conference tournament victory was on the heels of a 9-1 Big Sky record as the 'Jacks captured their fourth consecutive regular season title. This year's NCAA appearance will be the Lumberjacks' second all-time following a 6-0 loss to Arizona State in 1999.

NAU will take a school record tying 11-match winning streak into its match with UCLA, the Pac-12 runner-up. UCLA is ranked No. 9 in the most recent Oracle/ITA Division I Women's Rankings and has been ranked in the top 10 in 13 of 14 national polls this season. The Bruins have posted an 18-7 record this spring and were 8-2 in Pac-12 play.

Saturday will mark NAU and UCLA's first all-time head-to-head meeting. While the Lumberjacks will be in the national tournament for just the second time ever, the Bruins have made the NCAA Tournament every year since 1982 and have won two national championships – most recently in 2014.
