FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (June 17, 2019) – Northern Arizona volleyball graduate
Kaylie Jorgenson excelled in her first big move from Canada to Flagstaff. Next, she will see what she can do in Germany. After earning her undergraduate degree in special and elementary education from NAU last month, Jorgenson recently inked a deal with proWIN Volleys TV Holz to continue her playing career overseas.
Jorgenson will leave for Germany in August and will join a proWIN Volleys TV Holz team that is coming off a fourth-place finish in the 2nd Bundesliga league. proWIN Volleys TV Holz recorded 16 victories this past season and is located in Saarbrücken, Germany.
"After talking to the coaches, the general manager and previous players on the team, it sounds like a very supportive atmosphere," Jorgenson said. "That's what I liked the most about NAU – the support I had and the people I met. The connection with the team was really appealing to me and the location is in a really good spot."
Following her All-American senior season last fall, Jorgenson traveled with Bring It Promotions on the group's January European Exposure Tour. Jorgenson competed in Slovenia, Austria and Switzerland before returning to Flagstaff for her final semester and complete her degree.
Jorgenson enjoyed a highly decorated final season in the Blue & Gold, becoming the fourth Big Sky Most Valuable Player and second All-American (Volleyballmag.com) in program history. She led the team with 3.06 kills per set and was second with 4.15 digs per set. Additionally, she led the team with 28 solo blocks and ranked second with 43 aces.
The Saskatoon, Saskatchewan native was a two-time All-Big Sky First Team selection and was also voted NAU's 2018-19 Female Athlete of the Year. She narrowly missed becoming the seventh player in program history to eclipse 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs in her career, recording 900-plus in both categories in just two seasons as a six-rotation outside hitter. She was part of NAU's Big Sky Championship and NCAA Tournament teams in 2015 and 2018.
"From my first year at NAU to my last, I transformed and grew so much," Jorgenson said. "This is going to be another opportunity to move to somewhere new and start to build on what I can do volleyball-wise. Off the court, I'm looking forward to experiencing new places and what they have to offer."
Jorgenson is the fourth Lumberjack in head coach
Ken Murphy's six-year tenure to continue their careers professionally.
