Kocourkova and Croft Lead 'Jacks at First Day of Coeur d'Alene Collegiate Invitational

COEUR D'ALENE, IDAHO (September 23, 2019) - The Northern Arizona University women's golf program competed in the opening two rounds of the Coeur d'Alene Collegiate Invitational hosted by Gonzaga University on Monday at the Coeur d'Alene Resort Golf Course in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. 

The Lumberjacks shot a 24-over, 592, on the first day signing for 296 in both rounds. NAU currently sits in eighth-place on the team leaderboard. Host Gonzaga is in first-place heading into the final round tomorrow at three-over (571). Nevada (+15, 583) is in a tie for second-place after day one with NAU's Big Sky Conference rival Idaho.

Sophomores Elle Kocourkova and Ashley Croft both are in the top-18 on the player leaderboard after rounds one and two. Kocourkova recorded a scores of 73 and 72 to end the day at just three-over par and in a tie for 12th-place. In the first round Kocourkova birdied on Holes No. 10 and No. 17, while also knocking in two more birdies in the second round on Holes No. 4 and No. 7. Croft posted rounds of 71 and 75 to finish the opening day of the Invite at four-over 146 and is tied for 17th individually. Croft birdied on Holes No. 4 and No. 14 in the first round.

Senior Emma Reyes is two strokes behind Croft at six-over 148 and is in a tie for 28th-place. Reyes went for 76 in the first round but bounced back in the second round and was only one-over 72, going for birdie on four holes in the second round (Holes No. 1, No. 3, No. 8 and No. 17).

Freshman Alyza Flores (76-79, 155) is tied for 67th while sophomore Aleksanda Chekalina (81-77, 158) is tied for 74th to round out the scoring for the 'Jacks.

Gonzaga's Jessica Mangrobang is the tournament leader heading into the last day of play at two-under 140 after carding rounds of 71 and 69.

The third and final round will be played with a shotgun start on Tuesday morning with a tee time of approximately 7:45 A.M. (MST).
