USTFCCCA Men's National Coaches' Poll
NEW ORLEANS, La. (January 27, 2020) - The Northern Arizona University men's indoor track & field program was ranked as the No. 13 overall program in the NCAA Division I Men's National Coaches' Poll announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Monday morning.
NAU was also ranked as the No. 3 team in the Mountain Region, behind only No. 1 Texas Tech and No. 2 BYU.
The Lumberjacks moved up 12 spots from No. 25 in the preseason poll. NAU has been off to a hot start in 2020 as the program has already seen two team meets, a national championship in the USATF Junior Men's 8K by
Corey Gorgas and now a new American collegiate record set by
Tyler Day in the Men's Indoor 5K. Friday evening Day ran for a time of 13:16.95 to top the previous record held by Oregon Ducks runner Galen Rupp (13:18.2).
NAU has six of the top-26 men's mile times in the country (3.
Geordie Beamish, 3:58.17*; 4.
Luis Grijalva, 3:58.69*; 5.
Tyler Day 3:59.21*; 25.
Ryan Raff, 4:03.70*; 26.
Theo Quax, 4:03.87*) and three of the top-11 in the 5K (1.

Abdihamid Nur are ranked in the top-46 for the 3K (28. Raff, 8:09.91*; 46. Nur, 8:12.78*).
The throws squad has been making noise in the Weight Throw with sophomore
William Beaudry (35. 20.07m) and senior
Kevin Cooney (19.84m) in the top-43 in that event.
The 'Jacks were the only Big Sky Conference team to make the top-25 in the National Coaches' Poll, while four other programs found their way into the top-12 of the Mountain Region.
