LA JOLLA, Calif. (April 4, 2026) – Northern Arizona Track & Field closed out competition at the Triton Invitational with multiple Big Sky-leading and all-time performances on Saturday, highlighted by standout efforts in the relays, hurdles, and high jump.
The Lumberjacks opened the day with a strong showing in the women's 4x100-meter relay, where NAU clocked 45.17, moving to No. 4 in the Big Sky this season and No. 7 all-time in program history. The mark continues to build momentum for the sprint group early in the outdoor campaign.
Individually, Sydnie Watkins delivered one of the top performances of the day in the women's 100-meter hurdles, running 13.69, just 0.04 seconds off her own school record. Her time ranks No. 3 in the Big Sky this season and reinforces her position among the conference's top hurdlers.
On the men's side, Erick Reyes-Aguilera posted a runner-up finish in the 110-meter hurdles, crossing in 14.40, just 0.02 seconds shy of the NAU all-time top 10. His mark also stands among the top times in the Big Sky this season. Later in the day, Josiah Johnson led the Lumberjacks in the 400-meter hurdles, winning the event in 50.42, while teammate Nicolas Martinez added a third-place finish in 52.05, giving NAU a strong showing in the event.
In the field events, Christian Mutengla highlighted the day with a clearance of 2.05 meters (6-8.75) in the men's high jump, adding another solid mark for the Lumberjacks in the vertical jumps.
Overall, Northern Arizona closed out the Triton Invitational with multiple conference-leading performances and continued progress across event groups, building momentum as the outdoor season progresses.
NAU returns to competition later this month with athletes scheduled to compete at the Mt. SAC Relays, Bryan Clay Invitational, Tom Jones Memorial Invitational, Long Beach Invitational, and the Penn Relays.
