FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (April 23, 2021) - Northern Arizona track & field will return to Phoenix to compete at the Canyon Invitational on Saturday.

Fellow Big Sky competitor Eastern Washington will be in attendance amongst a slew of other teams facing the 'Jacks this weekend.
With league championships less than a month away, NAU has their sights set on successfully obtaining and maintaining top-conference marks.
As for the men's and women's sprinters, they will compete in the 100-meter, 200-meter, 400-meter, 100 and 100- meter hurdles, 400-meter hurdles, as well as the 4x100-meter relay and the 4x400-meter relay.
NAU sprinters hold 17 top-8 slots in their respective events with several Lumberjacks on the cusp of entering into potential scoring positions.
Meanwhile, the NAU throwers will compete in the men's and women's shot put, discus, and javelin.
19 top spots in the conference are occupied by the Lumberjack throws crew.
The men's throwers have particularly found their stride, as the team's strongest shot put, hammer, and discus marks average second (17.86m), fifth (57.68m), and twelfth (53.14m) respectively on this week's USTFCCCA #EventSquad list.
The men's distance program has similar success, with their fastest 1500-meter and 5000-meter times average ninth (3:43.26) and thirteenth (14:02.29) respectively on the weekly USTFCCCA #EventSquad list.
As several members make their outdoor season debuts for the men and women this weekend they will race in the 800-meter, 1500-meter, and 5000-meter.
NAU's distance program also currently owns 19 of the top times in the Big Sky, with an additional handful of Lumberjack distance runners knocking on the door.
In regard to the jumps unit, they will compete in the men's and women's long jump, triple jump, high jump, and the women's pole vault.
11 of the top-8 slots are held by Lumberjack jumpers in their respective events.
Although the women's triple jumpers were ranked sixth last week, they have only dropped one slot as their best marks in the triple jump average seventh (12.03m) this week on the USTFCCCA #EventSquad ranking list.
