Flagstaff, Ariz. (April 28, 2021) - A group of Northern Arizona distance runners will travel to the West Coast Relays in Fresno, Calif. on Friday.

NAU will share the track with Air Force, Arkansas, Boise State, BYU, Cal Baptist, Cal Poly, Colorado, Colorado State, Fresno State, Missouri, NC State, New Mexico, Oklahoma State, San Francisco, Stanford, Toledo, UC Davis, UC Riverside, Utah, Utah State, Washington, Washington State, and Wyoming.
Several unattached and professional runners from Adidas, Brooks, Hoka One One, Impala Racing, Paras360, Peninsula Distance Club, and Oiselle Volee will also be in the mix.
The Lumberjack men and women will compete in the 1500-meter, 5000-meter, and 10000-meter.
Senior Cade Burks, junior Theo Quax, sophomore Caleb Easton, and freshmen Nico Young and Kang Nyoak will run in the 1500-meter for the men.
Young ranks sixth in the Big Sky while Quax, Burks, Easton and Nyoak hold 11th, 12th, 15th and 18th in the conference.
As for the women, senior Hannah Behunin and Pipi Eitel, along with junior Bryn Morley, and sophomore Jesselyn Bries will run in the 1500-meter.
Behunin and Morley stand seventh and twelfth in the league respectively, while Eitel and Bries have yet to record a time this season; this will be Bries' outdoor track debut.
The men's 5K will feature seniors Luis Grijalva, Aldo Marquez, Beau Prince, and John Shea, as well as junior Brodey Hasty, sophomore Drew Bosley, and freshman Santiago Gomez-Prosser.
Prosser currently holds the fifth slot in the Big Sky, with Quax in seventh as well; Shea and Easton rank 11th and 12th respectively while Marquez ranks 21st.
Grijalva and Prince will also record their first 5K times this season.
Meanwhile, seniors Mikayla Malaspina and Delaney Rasmussen, juniors Taryn O'Neill, Cassi Land, and Abby Riordan, along with sophomores Annika Reiss and Elise Stearns will compete in the women's 5K; Behunin and Bries will also run in the event.
Malaspina ranks third in the league, while the remaining women look to record their first times of the season.
The men's 10K will include senior Blaise Ferro, junior Ryan Raff, and freshman Abdihamid Nur.
The last time Ferro and Raff competed in a 10K was in 2019; Nur will run his first collegiate 10K in Fresno. On the women's side, senior Jeralyn Poe and junior Jessa Hanson will race in the women's 10K.
Poe's most recent 10K was run in 2019, while Hanson seeks her first collegiate 10K time.
