FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (February 18, 2022) - The Lumberjacks improved their record to 7-3 after a 7-0 win facing the UC San Diego Tritons on Friday night in front of an electric Flagstaff crowd.
"It was the best crowd we had this season and the guys are excited about that, it definitely gets them excited to play even better," Head Coach Maciej Bogusz said.
Beginning the night with a bang, the 'Jacks took a three court sweep in doubles as Maciej Ziomber and Daniel Dillon brought in the first win on court three, 6-1. Dominik Buzonics and Alex Groves secured the point as they won 6-3 on court two, and Facundo Tumosa and Eban Straker-Meads finished out doubles play on court one with a 6-4 win.
Tumosa brought the team their first singles point on court one, with a 6-3, 6-4 win facing UCSD's Daniel Traxler. Groves brought in the third point of the night against William Lan one court five, 6-1, 6-2, as Straker-Meads finished his match up on court two with a 6-1, 6-1 win.
Ziomber brought the Lumberjacks their court point while securing the win on court four, 6-2, 6-0. Dani Torres won his matchup on court five, 6-3, 6-3, followed by Buzonic's win to complete the sweep on court three with a 6-3, 6-5 win.
"We improved and cleaned up a lot of things compared to the previous weekend when we played Arizona and we had a good week of practice so it showed during the match. We're gonna recover and adjust for the elevation change and be ready to go on Sunday," Bogusz said.
The Lumberjacks will travel to the University of New Mexico to take on the Lobos on Sunday at 12 p.m. MST. The match will be available on live stats here.
