TEMPE, Ariz. (March 19, 2022) — Northern Arizona closes out the second day of the Baldy Castillo Invitational with a bang.
Brodey Hasty opened his outdoor season with a personal best of 3:45.08 to champion the men's 1500-meter, with Cael Grotenhuis (3:53.25), Randy Espinoza (3:55.51), Aldo Marquez (3:55.68), Jack Shea (3:56.87), Riley Human (3:57.20), Aiden Barnhill (3:57.61) and Jordan Black (4:02.63) in the mix as well.
Elise Stearns led the Lumberjack women in the 1500-meter run, recording a personal best time of 4:25.30;

Annika Reiss (4:27.79),
Jesselyn Bries (4:29.46),
Bryn Morley (4:29.73),
Cassi Land (4:34.38),
Nikita Moore (4:37.53),
Meagan Van Pelt (4:39.11),

Anna Fenske (4:46.34), Tori Gaitan (4:48.51) also competed in the event.
Meanwhile, in his second career outdoor 110-meter hurdle attempt,
Trenton Givens set a personal best time of 14.09 in event finals.
David Dunlap also sped to the line with a personal best 100-meter dash time of 10.45, followed by
Kyle Smith (10.83),
Erick Thompson Jr. (10.84),
Zachary Sutton (10.86),
Ian Lipsey (10.93), and
Matthew Roma (11.50);
Synfanie Crudder (12.03),
LiNay Perry (12.25) and
Miracle Onyemaobi (12.26) also zoomed to the finish of the women's 100-meter dash.
In the 400-meter hurdles,
Kiana Kai represented the Lumberjack women, running 1:03.93, as
Tyson Givens (56.53),
Ethan Seppala (57.20),
Zach Schroeder (59.90), and
Wil Peralta (1:00.17) competed for the NAU men.
In the field, both
Trevor Hook (63.17m) and
Clayton Zupke (59.34m) opened their outdoor seasons with personal best marks in the men's Javelin, while
Piper Pfister and
Jade Kwinn respectively finished the women's Javelin with 41.81 meters and 40.37 meters.
Parker Bays,
Blake Baloun and
Carly Watts competed for the throws squad as well, respectively throwing 16.71 meters, 14.96 meters and 14.95 meters in the men's and women's shot put.
The Lumberjack jumpers also joined in on the fun today, as
Mitchell Effing (7.28m),
Joshua Bennett (6.68m),
Jack Normand (6.61m),
Sirr Butler (6.27m), and
Royal Miller IV (5.85m) participated in the men's long jump, and
Madeline Wilson (5.15m),
Courtney Weisenberger (5.12m), and
Lily Margolis (5.07m) competed in the women's long jump;
Cameron Peters triple jumped 13.31 meters as well.
NAU will return to Arizona State next weekend for the ASU Invitational.
