NAU Athletics Combine for 62 Big Sky Fall All-Academic Awards

FARMINGTON, Utah (April 21, 2022) – In the Big Sky Conference's release on Thursday, the Northern Arizona football, volleyball, soccer and men's and women's cross country teams combined for 62 Fall All-Academic awards. The 62 fall awardees are a significant increase over the 40 honors the five teams combined for two years ago prior to the COVID-19 pandemic.

After a one-year modification due to the impact COVID-19 had on the 2020-21 academic year, the eligibility for Big Sky All-Academic honors reverted back to what it was pre-pandemic. To be eligible for Big Sky All-Academic honors, a student-athlete must have met and/or exceeded the following minimum requirements: 1) Participated in at least half of the team's competitions; 2) Achieved a 3.2 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at the conclusion of the most recently completed term; 3) Completed at least one academic term at his/her current Big Sky institution.

The football team accounted for 21 of the 62 total Lumberjack honorees, followed by the soccer team's 14. Women's cross country had 11 and volleyball had nine with the two-time defending NCAA Champion men's cross country team producing seven awardees.

Of the 62 Lumberjack All-Academic student-athletes, an impressive 39 of them have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.60. Fourteen of the 62 have a perfect 4.00 cumulative GPA.
