Lumberjacks Return to Stillwater for Cowboy Jamboree

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – The Northern Arizona University men's and women's cross country teams are headed to Stillwater, Oklahoma for the Cowboy Jamboree. The men are the defending champions and are looking for their third straight win, while the women are attending for the first time since 2015.

Stillwater will be home to the NCAA National Championships later in the season, with this being the first and only look the Lumberjacks will have at the course before the postseason. This is also the first time this season that NAU will travel their full squads, only taking five women and six men to the Indiana last week.

Despite having small numbers at the Coaching Tree Invitational, the men left their mark on the field. Theo Quax, Santiago Gomez-Prosser, and Kang Nyoak took the top three spots, with the team easily taking third place. Quax was named both the Big Sky and USTFCCCA National Men's Athlete of the Week for his efforts.

The women were competitive in their respective race, even with only five runners. Nikita Moore placed eighth, while Maggi Congdon also placed in the top-20. Both women will run the 6K at the Cowboy Jamboree. Also competing in Stillwater will be Taryn O'Neill, who will open her season, and Elise Stearns, the Lumberjack's top finisher from the George Kyte Classic.

Drew Bosley and Nico Young will be in the lineup for the men once again. Last year at the Cowboy Jamboree they placed fifth and fourth, respectively. In the season opening George Kyte Classic they took the top two spots amidst a Lumberjack sweep of the top seven. Bosley earned the Big Sky's Men's Athlete of the Week award for his efforts.

The women will open the meet with the 6K beginning at 5:45 a.m. MST, while the men will follow at 6:30 a.m. MST for the 8K. Live results for the meet can be found here.
