TULSA, Okla. (September 24, 2022) – Taking on the Tulsa Golden Hurricane in singles play and the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs in doubles, the Northern Arizona Lumberjacks finished Saturday's play at the Tulsa Invite with five victories.
Once again, junior
Sofia Markova impressed with her 6-2, 6-1 victory in singles play, defeating Tulsa's Laia Conde Monfort. A senior who earned American Athletic Conference Player of the Year last season, Monfort entered the fall ranked No. 102 in the ITA Division I Women's Singles Rankings.

Daryna Shoshyna earned her first collegiate victory with a comeback after dropping a tight opening set. Winning 5-7, 6-3, 6-1, Shoshyna capped off a perfect day as she also paired with Markova for a 6-4 win against Louisiana Tech's Olga Bienzobas and Alexia Romero.
Ava Neyestani and
Patrycja Niewiadomska also earned a victory in doubles play, beating Valentina Vazquez and Ana Rodrigues of Louisiana Tech 6-2.
Elinor Beazley and
Laura Duhl dropped their doubles match to the Bulldogs' Leonie Schuknecht and Najah Dawson 6-3.
Ana Karen Guadiana Campos earned Northern Arizona's other victory on Saturday, defeating Tulsa senior Lian Benedejcic 6-3, 6-3 in singles play. Beazley fell 6-0, 6-4 to Maria Berlanga Bandera, Neyestani dropped her singles match 6-0, 6-3 to Lily Hutchings and Duhl fell 6-2, 6-2 to Oleksandra Nahurska.
Niewiadomska bounced back from a first set loss to Ana Naranjo Martinez, but lost her singles match in three sets, 6-3, 2-6, 6-3.
Play concludes at the Tulsa Invite on Sunday, with singles and doubles play between Northern Arizona, Tulsa, Arkansas, Louisiana Tech and Wichita State set for at 7 a.m.
