Lumberjack Golf Tied for 10th After Round One of The Clash at Boulder Creek

BOULDER CREEK, Nev. (Oct. 22, 2023) – The Northern Arizona University golf team kicked off the final tournament of the Fall season today at The Clash at Boulder Creek where it currently sits tied for 10^th after the first round.
 
The Lumberjacks are playing host to the tournament, which is taking place at the Boulder Creek Golf Club (par-72, 6,334 yards) in Boulder City, Nev. The 20-team field will play one round of 18 holes each day, with the remaining two rounds to begin at 8 a.m. Mountain Standard time on Monday and Tuesday (Oct. 23-24).
 
Northern Arizona shot a 302 (+14) in the first round today as a team, tying with Big Sky Conference foes Northern Colorado and Weber State.
 
Sophomores Lizzie Neale and Ellena Slater each led the Lumberjacks with a 74 (+2) to tie for 26^th. True freshman Amy Hodgkins is right behind the duo and is tied for 47^th after shooting a 76 (+4). Senior Ekaterina Malakhova is competing as an individual and also shot a 76 (+4) today.
 
Fifth-year Lorel Hayward is tied for 76^th after shooting a 78 (+6), followed by Nina Lukyanenko who is competing as an individual and is tied for 80^th with a 79 (+7).
 
Freshman Frankie Dezis shot an 80 (+8) to tie for 85^th.
 
Long Beach State is currently in the lead after shooting a 283 (-5) as a team. Besides Weber State and Northern Colorado, NAU trails conference foe Idaho by one stroke but is ahead of Montana State by three.
 
The Lumberjacks are back in action tomorrow morning with a shotgun start set for 8 a.m. MST for round two. Live scoring will be available on BirdieFire.
