FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (March 29, 2023) – The Northern Arizona University track & field teams are back on the road as they split between three meets this weekend. Groups will be heading to the Texas Relays, the Bobcat Invitational, and the Stanford Invitational.
Last weekend the Lumberjacks had a successful competition at the Willie Williams Classic. NAU saw strong performances from multiple athletes between all four event groups.
In the sprints,
David Dunlap picked up the event win in the 200-meter after running a time of 20.65. In the women's 200-meter,
Alyssa Colbert finished second with a personal best time of 23.83.
Alyssa Colbert also ran a time of 11.46 in the women's 100-meter to win the gold. Colbert is now ranked first in the Big Sky and fifth in the west region in the 100-meter.
Kenya Coburn ran a personal best time of 12.04 in the same event to place ninth.
In the men's 100-meter hurdles
Tyson Givens set a new personal best en route to finishing second in the event. He ran a time of 14.37, putting him at first in the conference and 17
th in the west region.
Wil Peralta closely followed in fourth with a time of 14.64.
The women's distance group had a great weekend on the track, taking the event wins in the 1500-meter and the 5000-meter.
Nikita Moore took the win in the 1500-meter with a time of 4:25.88.
Bryn Morley was close behind, finishing second with a time of 4:26.98.
Anna Fenske placed first in the 5K, running a time of 16:57.37 to easily take the win.
Mitchell Effing won the men's long jump with a mark of 7.79 meters with
Ian Lipsey not far behind in third after jumping 7.21 meters.
Jenna Figueroa won the women's long jump after hitting a mark of 12.16 meters. She is now ranked first in the Big Sky and 23
rd in the west region. Men's triple jump also saw success for the 'Jacks, with
Jack Normand placing second. Normand jumped 15.11 meters to set a new personal record and put himself second in the conference in the event.
Jack Normand also tied for second in the men's high jump, after hitting a height of 2.05 meters.
The javelin crew had a great weekend, with
Jade Kwinn finishing second in the women's competition with a throw of 48.76 meters.
Piper Pfister placed fifth after throwing 42.10 meters.
Trevor Hook finished third in the men's javelin after throwing 67.16 meters.
Parker Bays led the Lumberjacks in the shot put, throwing 16.55 meters to finish fifth. His throw puts him at first in the Big Sky and 26
th in the west region.
Jake Tucker and
Cole White placed seventh and ninth, respectively, with throws of 15.95 meters and 15.72 meters. In the weight throw,
John Murphy placed fourth with a personal best throw of 65.30 meters.
