FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (March 4, 2023) - The Northern Arizona Diving team is heading to Federal Way for the 2023 NCAA Zone Diving Meet, with eight divers set to compete in the meet.
The Lumberjacks are coming off their tenth WAC title last week in Pharr, Texas where the divers scored a program record for most points in a conference meet. Nikki Kelsey earned the head diving coach of the year honors after the championships, marking the ninth time in her career.
The Jacks placed six out of eight divers in the finals of both the 1m and 3m events, while also scoring the most points in WAC championship history.
The Lumberjacks championed two of three diving events at the conference meet, with Victoria Knapp placing first on the 1m boards for the third consecutive season and freshman Margaret Wesche earned her first gold medal in the 3m event. Five divers earned medals throughout the WAC meet for NAU.
To qualify for the NCAA Championships, a diver must finish in the top six in the 1-meter, top eight in the 3-meter springboard, or top tenth in the platform event. Prelims of the E Zone Diving Championships are set to start at 11:30 a.m.
