FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (April 14, 2023) – The Northern Arizona University women's tennis team will host Sacramento State this weekend in their final regular season match.
The Lumberjacks have been dominant in Big Sky play this season, with a perfect 7-0 record so far. NAU has already clinched at least a share of the regular season title and can clinch an outright title with a win on Sunday.
Last weekend, the 'Jacks defeated Idaho State 6-1 after winning on all six singles courts.
Sofia Markova took the win on court one with consecutive 6-2 sets, with
Patrycja Niewiadomska doing the same on court three.
Ana Karen Guadiana Campos took her competition down in three sets, winning 6-4, 3-6, 6-4.
Daryna Shoshyna took the win on court four, winning her sets 6-4, 601.
Ava Neyestani also needed three sets to defeat her opponent, eventually picking up the win 6-4, 5-7, 11-9.
Laura Duhl had an easy day on court six, winning back-to-back sets 6-3, 6-3.
The Hornets are 9-9 overall this season and 4-3 in conference play. Their conference wins come against Montana, Montana State, Eastern Washington, and Idaho.
Sacramento State's most recent win comes against UC Riverside, in which they defeated UCR 4-0. The Hornets took the double point and never looked back, earning points on singles courts one, three, and five.
The Lumberjacks will take on the Hornets this Sunday beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the NAU Tennis Center. Live results for the match can be found
