FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (April 2, 2023) – The No. 67 Northern Arizona University women's tennis team swept the Montana State Bobcats 7-0 to improve to 6-0 in conference play.
The Lumberjacks started out strong, capturing the doubles point with wins on all three courts. Court three was the first to finish, with
Mimi Bland and
Ava Neyestani dominating their competition 6-1.
Patrycja Niewiadomska and
Laura Duhl were next to finish, clinching the doubles point with a 6-4 victory on court two. After a back-and-forth match on court one,
Ana Karen Guadiana Campos and
Elinor Beazley eventually emerged victorious to seal the doubles sweep over the Bobcats.
Patrycja Niewiadomska was the first to finish in singles, easily taking the win on court three. She dominated her first set in a 6-1 win, before earning the 'Jacks first point with a 6-4 second set win.
On court six,
Laura Duhl finished in an easy 6-2, 6-4 victory as she never trailed in the match.
Sofia Markova fell behind early on court one, dropping her first set 0-6. She rallied to come back and easily win consecutive sets 6-0, 6-1.
Ava Neyestani took her first set to a tiebreaker, eventually winning 7-5. She came back strong in her second set, rolling to an easy 6-1 victory.
Daryna Shoshyna easily won her first set 6-0 before narrowly dropping her second 4-6. She came back in her third set with an easy 6-2 win to earn NAU their sixth point.
Ana Karen Guadiana Campos was the last Lumberjack to finish, playing a close match that went to three sets. After narrowly dropping her first set 4-6, she came back strong in the second to win 6-2. Despite falling down 1-3 early in the third set, Campos rallied to a 6-4 victory to clinch the sweep for NAU.
