Box Score PHOENIX, Ariz. (April 29, 2023) – The Northern Arizona University women's team ended their Big Sky Conference Championships with a close 2-4 loss to the Weber State Wildcats in the conference finals.
The Lumberjacks began their day with wins on courts two and three to clinch the doubles point.
Patrycja Niewiadomska and
Laura Duhl took the win on court two with an easy 6-2 victory, while
Mimi Bland and
Daryna Shoshyna also defeated their opponents 6-2 on court three.
During singles,
Sofia Markova fought hard on court one but eventually lost the match 2-6, 3-6.
Ava Neyestani put up a strong effort on court five before also dropping her match 2-6, 4-6.
Daryna Shoshyna saw an impressive finish on court four, winning her first set 6-4 and easily taking the second 6-2.
Ana Karen Guadiana Campos dropped her first set 1-6 on court two before battling back in the second to win it 6-4. She eventually lost her third set 0-6.
Patrycja Niewiadomska had a back-and-forth first set on court three, pushing it to a tiebreak where she earned a 7-5 victory. She dropped her second set 1-6 before losing the third 4-6.
Laura Duhl won her first set in a 7-5 tiebreak and dropped the second in a 6-7 tiebreak. Her match was left unfinished in the third set.
